Rehab is not the End of the Process

Nov 23, 2022 | Rehab

Rehab is the ultimate way to recovery. Many assume that entering rehab is the ultimate way toward sobriety. However, this is not entirely true. Rehab is a great way to overcome addiction but the recovery does not end here.

We can say, rehab is just the first step toward a lifetime of sobriety. Rehab gives you the chance to get over your addiction. You then need to back it up with other processes.

Stages of Recovery

Recovery does not happen in a day or two. It needs ample time to bring you back on track. There are multiple stages involved in an addiction recovery process. Those stages are:

  1. Pre-contemplation

Here, the user has not yet identified their addiction or is just ignoring the signs. Whereas, in reality, their addiction is about to reach its peak.

  1. Contemplation

Here, the addict has identified his or her addiction. They have already acknowledged the consequences but are confused about the next step. At times, the addict is also unsure of whether the consequences are worth their enjoyment.

  1. Preparation

At this stage, the addict now knows that the consequences are serious and there’s no positive side left to their substance use. They also realize that treatment is available and possible.

  1. Action

This is the stage where the addict finally decides to seek help. They can approach a rehab center and begin with addiction treatment. This stage also aims at improving the addict’s lifestyle by helping them overcome addiction.

  1. Maintenance

This is the important stage of the entire process. Here, the patient is supposed to maintain their recovery by implementing tools and techniques learned during therapies.

  1. Termination

This might contradict the statements made earlier, but termination does mark the end of the process. An individual at this stage has reached a peak of sobriety. Now, they only need to put in minimum effort to maintain the condition.

Any rehab following these steps is the perfect place to treat addiction. Even Taylor Recovery follows a thorough process of addiction treatment. You can call our experts to get more details about the programs.
